The Caribou is a chambered, dual pickup, 22 fret electric guitar, featuring a Cat Eye F-Hole and a 647mm scale. The Caribou is made from solid Alder in which we route large sound chambers. The body is then fitted with a flat maple top featuring a modern Cat Eye F-Hole. The large sound chambers make this construction a crossover between a solidbody and a semi-hollow construction, resulting in a unique tonal character and resonance.
The Caribou is fitted with their proven Duesenberg pickup combination, comprising of the classicly wound Grand Vintage humbucker for the bridge and the warm and creamy Domino P90 singlecoil. The middle position of both pickups features a special wiring, which splits certain low end frequencies out of the humbucker's signal, resulting in an open and extremely versatile addition to your pallet of sounds.
Additionally, their Diamond Deluxe Tremola proved to be one of the best of its kind, providing buttery operation and outstanding tuning stability. If you have ever played a vintage guitar with a tremolo you will understand the tuning issues that plagued guitarists who dared to use them. Duesenberg were not happy giving you a guitar with a trem that was more pain that it was worth. So they went back to the drawing board and between this new trem and the Z-Tuners you will never have tuning issues again.
Duesenberg do not cut corners when it comes to building their guitars. From their custom made hardware to the wood choice and the craftsmanship that goes into brining it all together they are hard to match. This guitar is part of their Artist Line and as such it is a bit more special than your standard Doozy with some unique apointments that are not often found anywhere else.
Starting off at the body you have a laminated spruce top on top of solid American alder back and sides with a solid sustain block running through the guitar. This not only gives this guitar an almost acoustic like amount of dynamics but almost completely eliminates the feedback issues that you can get with hollowbody guitars.
All their fretboards are carefully pleked and finished by hand for optimum playability and the smooth feel they are famous for. The neck has been carved out of a single piece of maple into their signature D shaped profile that fits wonderfully in the hands without feeling too chunky or too thin. Topped off with Indian rosewood for the fretboard cut off into 22 frets at a 25.5" scale length. After you get your hands round this neck you will fall in love.
If you know Duesenberg you know that they want to control everything that goes into their guitars. All their instruments are fitted with their own hardware, which you will only find on a Duesenberg. They design it with attention to even the smallest details to create truly unique instruments from tuner buttons to jack plates. This is to make sure that they can deliver the exact guitar they want at a great price and it also means that everything is made bespoke for the guitar you have. From the split shaft style Z-Tuners to their deluxe Tremola everything has been purposefully designed for performance and style.
Duesenberg are most famous for one perticular sound and a lot of that comes from their signature pickups. The Domino "Phonico" P90 and Grand Vintage Humbucker pickups are made by Duesenberg in house with components sourced by them and known to be of the best quality around. Everything from the wire to the magnets and even casings are all made out of top quality materials not found anywhere else so you can get the same blues rock sound that has captured a generation of players. For the cutting leads and heavy riffs, Duesenberg took their own classically wound Grand Vintage Humbucker and paired it with their open Domino P90 for airy chords and creamy licks. The middle position of both pickups features a special wiring, which splits certain low end frequencies out of the humbucker signal, resulting in an open and extremely versatile addition to your pallet of sounds.
