Fender's Limited Edition Parallel Universe American Elite Nashville Telecaster may be their most sonically flexible and player-friendly design yet. The guitar's ash body boasts the perfect carves to help it hug your body. A trio of humbucking and single-coil pickups delivers an astounding array of tones. And the Limited Edition Parallel Universe American Elite Nashville Tele's maple neck and fingerboard are specially carved to deliver the most effortless and enjoyable playing experience possible. The Limited Edition Parallel Universe American Elite Nashville Tele is sure to be your go-to guitar.
Like some of the most classic Telecasters in history, the Fender Limited Edition Parallel Universe American Elite Nashville Telecaster's body is crafted from beautiful ash. Known for its big lows and chiming highs, ash injects this Tele with plenty of twang. Unlike vintage Teles, the Parallel Universe Tele features expertly executed contours on the top, back, and heel. Once you strap this guitar on for the gig, Music Experience knows you'll appreciate the way these contours make the guitar meld seamlessly with your body.
The guitar's performance-driven features extend to the neck in a big way. While its all-maple construction and classic-looking Fender logo look standard enough, run up the fingerboard and you'll know there's a lot more going on. For instance, the guitar's fingerboard boasts a wildly popular 9.5" to 14" compound-radius. The back of the neck sports a compound C to D profile that ensures you have plenty to get your hands on, while never interfering with your playing. And you'll even enjoy the heel-located truss rod adjustment wheel that is a definite hit with Fender fans.
Even with the customizations to the Fender Limited Edition Parallel Universe American Elite Nashville Telecaster's neck and body, it's the guitar's unique pickup layout that will strike you first. By shifting the guitar's Pure Vintage '64 Tele pickups to the neck and middle position, Fender was able to install their clear and powerful-sounding Shawbucker humbucker in the bridge. As if that weren't enough, the Fender S1 switch — conveniently located in the guitar's tone knob — opens up access to even more pickup combinations.
Packed with attitude and innovation, the limited-edition American Elite Telecaster HSS mixes bleeding-edge performance with timeless visual style. It’s the future of workhorse guitar design—a versatile, unique hybrid that was made to tear it up on stage or in the studio. This custom-contoured Tele® guitar’s stunning looks, easy playing feel and flexible sound can scratch any musical itch.
This Telecaster body is crafted from strong, dense ash—a longtime Fender classic. Notably resonant and sweet-sounding, it features an attractive grain.
The nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body breathe with its true tonal character and also ages and wears in a distinctively personal way.
This fingerboard is curved for comfortable chording at the nut, flattening out higher up on the neck for choke-free bending and faster playing.
Voiced specifically for its position, the ShawBucker humbucking pickup delivers highly dynamic, multi-dimensional tone while resisting electrical noise.
This Telecaster bridge sports six chrome-plated brass saddles for classic Tele tone with twang and warmth.
A string nut fashioned from bone contributes to superior tone and performance, as well as being an authentic original-era Fender design element.
If you had a clean sheet of paper and the ability to create a hybrid guitar splicing together the DNA of two of Fender's most iconic models, a Stratocaster and Telecaster mashup would be a good place to start. That's exactly what the minds behind Fender product development did with the new Strat-Tele Hybrid, the first offering in the limited-edition Parallel Universe Collection. Boasting the unmistakable body of a Telecaster and timeless Stratocaster accoutrements, this guitar truly melds two time-tested instruments.
"It's everything you'd want in a Strat tone," said guitarist Todd Wisenbaker, who plays with Ryan Adams, after he got to put the Strat-Tele Hybrid through the paces. "It was obviously, when I plugged it in, a Strat pickup, the best tone there is. "It's kind of wrong, but it's right. It's cool!"
The "wrong-but-right" ethos runs through the entire Parallel Universe Collection, which will see a new guitar and bass model released each month throughout the rest of 2018. "We wanted to do something fresh and different, something exciting and interesting to consumers that wasn't just a typical Strat or Tele," Fender Senior Product Development Manager of Electric Guitars and Basses Allen Abbassi said. "We've mixed and matched different models in the past, and this is still very much in Fender's wheelhouse."
The Parallel Universe Strat-Tele Hybrid was initially inspired by a limited run of similar models produced by Fender Senior Master Builder and Custom Shop Director Chris Fleming in 2006. Fender has also placed three pickups in a Telecaster in the past, like the Nashville Tele. This version features professional touches like three Custom Shop '69 Aged Strat pickups, Stratocaster controls (single volume, two tone controls and a five-way switch), a Strat synchronized tremolo bridge, a lacquer finish and comfortable contours.
"These use the best of the best parts we have," said Fender Vice President of Fender Electric Guitars and Basses Product Development Joey Brasler. "Whatever premium specs we had at our disposal, we used. We spared nothing." With the Strat-Tele Hybrid combining the beloved specs of two of Fender's legendary guitars into one, don't be surprised if more Telecaster players come over to the Stratocaster side of the road soon. "There are Strat people and Tele people, and we wanted to give a Tele guy a Strat," Brasler said with a laugh. "Some people just aren't comfortable on a Stratocaster, so this is an opportunity to expand their palette."
