The Squier Vintage Modified Mustang comes directly from the Mustang line, originally one of Fender's "student models" when it was introduced in August of 1964. Aimed at younger players, the Mustang nevertheless won over an impressive array of guitarists over the past 50 years with its reputation as a great sounding, easy-to-play, rock-n-roll guitar. Players like Adrian Belew, David Byrne, Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante, Todd Rundgren, Thurston Moore, and John McLaughlin have all fallen for the Mustang. The Squier Vintage Modified Mustang gives you the chance to experience this special instrument at an amazing price point.
The Vintage Modified Mustang comes with a pair of Duncan Designed Mustang pickups routed through dual pickup switches. This arrangement puts you in command of an arsenal of in- and out-of-phase single-coil sounds. You get a superb array of tonal colors, from crisp and clear to warm and chunky. You'll also appreciate the Mustang as a lead instrument as bending strings on this baby is effortless. The Mustang's distinctive slinkiness is facilitated by a 24" scale — noticeably shorter than the Strat's 25.5 inches — and even a tad shorter than the Les Paul's. Add 6105 frets and a 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard, and you'll soon discover lead-playing abilities you never knew you had. And for gentle to dramatic pitch effects, there's a dynamic vibrato tailpiece with vintage-style tremolo arm standing by.
With the Squier Vintage Modified Mustang, you get a classic offset design that feels great against the body and in the hands. Made from lightweight, resonant basswood, this classic rocker is perfect for long jams and performances. The C-shaped maple neck with Indian Laurel fingerboard is also immediately playable and beautifully responsive.
