The wait is over. PRS's popular Starla format — its '70s Vegas Strip visuals, mahogany-on-mahogany singlecut construction, and classic PRS 25"-scale Wide Fat neck carve — finally comes to an irresistibly priced SE model. The PRS SE Starla features two Starla-inspired DS-02 humbucking pickups with push-pull coil splitting for access to beefy classic rock crunch and breathy gospel/rockabilly presence. A Grover TOM bridge and stoptail make intonating this guitar a breeze, while PRS-designed modern tuners give this guitar flash and stability. It's all finished in a flawless gloss finish and adorned with Birds fingerboard inlays for that unmistakable PRS appeal. If you've had your eye on the retro visuals and syrupy-sweet tones of an original Maryland-made or S2 Starla, see if the PRS SE Starla from Music Experience scratches that itch.
Warm, resonant, harmonically rich mahogany has been at the heart of classic guitar tones since the 1950s. The Starla SE sports sports a singlecut, asymmetric-beveled, thin mahogany body that delivers fat tones. Set to the neck is a 25"-scale Wide Fat mahogany neck with a 10" rosewood fingerboard that's beautifully inset with PRS Birds inlays.
DS-02 pickups inspired by previous Starla guitars give the PRS SE Starla a distinctively crisp, clean sound, with excellent string-to-string balance and enough variety to stage a set. Especially nice for classic players is the streamlined 3-way pickup selector and push-pull coil-split switch, which together provide access to an impressively wide range of tones
The SE Starla, like all PRS guitars, is designed for top-notch performance right out of the case. Since 2001, the SE Series has provided excellent tone and playability at an incredibly affordable price point. Constructed from quality tonewoods and components, these instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since Paul Reed Smith started handbuilding guitars for some of the most elite players in the world.
With its retro-inspired vibe and appointments, the SE Starla Stoptail is an approachable but distinctive guitar. The all-mahogany body paired with a two-piece adjustable stoptail bridge offers a woody, warm midrange tone, while the DS-02 treble and bass pickups add a bright high-end bark that allows the SE Starla Stoptail to cut through the mix. Turn up the volume and the DS-02 pickups go from clean and crisp to driving with rich harmonic overtones. The electronics layout features a 3-way blade pickup switch with a push/pull tone control, so the humbuckers can split into single coils for even more versatility. Other features include a 22 fret, 25” scale length wide fat mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, bird inlays, and pickguard assembly. Tone, feel, and style are all waiting for you with the SE Starla Stoptail.
