Trailing the roots of the very first Starplayer guitar, the Starplayer III brings you the early Duesenberg design featuring a flat top and back combined with a classic rosewood veneer for the headstock. Still, the Starplayer III does not miss the proven wood combination of spruce for the top and flamed maple for the back and sides.

Back to the Roots

Duesenberg’s success story began 1995 with this light, easy-to-handle and elegant semi-acoustic guitar. The Starplayer III is a reissue of the very first Starplayer model, but equipped with all the features of a modern Duesenberg. Back then with a flat top and back but already with the three-phased Art Deco design that is intentionally reminiscent of the golden era of the E-guitar. The guitar has more Rock-Appeal then the Starplayer TV, due to its flat body, but is otherwise equipped like its big sister.

Start at the Finish

The Starplayer III is covered in an all-over Catalina Blue finish with cream binding around the body and neck. For the cutting leads and heavy riffs, they took their own classically wound Grand Vintage Humbucker and paired it with the open Domino P90 Single-coil for airy chords and creamy licks. Includes hardshell case.

Duesenberg Feel

The Starplayer III guitar has a unique sound that you can't really get anywhere else. Part of this comes from its acoustic guitar inspired wood choice of a laminated spruce top with laminated flamed maple back and sides. This not only makes that guitar sound huge when unplugged but it also gives you a unique classic tone that works wonderfully for any clean or crunch tones. The neck is made out of a single piece of maple that is set into the body and carved to a classic 'D' shape. Finishing off the wood choices you have an Indian rosewood fingerboard keeping the playing slick and smooth.

Quality Tremola

If you have ever played a vintage guitar with a tremolo you will understand the tuning issues that plagued guitarists who dared to use them. Duesenberg were not happy giving you a guitar with a trem that was more pain that it was worth. So they went back to the drawing board and between this new trem and the Z-Tuners you will never have tuning issues again.

Duesenberg Quality

Duesenberg do not cut corners when it comes to building their guitars. From their custom made hardware to the wood choice and the craftsmanship that goes into bringing it all together they are hard to match. This guitar is part of their Artist Line and as such it is a bit more special than your standard Doozy with some unique appointments that are not often found anywhere else.

Body to sing

Starting off at the body you have a laminated spruce top paired with laminated flame maple back and sides with a solid sustain block running through the guitar. This not only gives this guitar an almost acoustic-like amount of dynamics but almost completely eliminates the feedback issues that you often find with hollowbody guitars.

Neck made to be played

The neck has been carved out of a single piece of maple into their signature D shaped profile that fits wonderfully in the hands without feeling too chunky or too thin. Topped off with Indian rosewood for the fretboard cut off into 22 frets at a 25.6" scale length. After you get your hands round this neck you will fall in love.

Custom Doozy Hardware

If you know Duesenberg you know that they want to control everything that goes into their guitars. This is to make sure that they can deliver the exact guitar they want at a great price and it also means that everything is made bespoke for the guitar you have. From the split shaft style Z-Tuners to their deluxe Tremola everything has been purposefully designed for performance and style.

Signature Pickups

Duesenberg are most famous for their unique iconic sound and a lot of that comes from their signature pickups. The Domino "Phonico" P90 and Grand Vintage Humbucker pickups are made by Duesenberg in house with components sourced by them and known to be of the best quality around. Everything from the wire to the magnets and even casings are all made out of top quality materials not found anywhere else so you can get the same blues rock sound that has captured a generation of players.

Here's what Duesenberg have to say about the Starplayer III

Even in the early days, we found that a combination of a balanced Humbucker for the bridge and a responsive P90 Singlecoil for the neck combines the best of both worlds. This is why we took our own classicly wound GrandVintage Humbucker and paired it with our open Domino P90 Singlecoil for airy chords and creamy licks.

All our instruments are fitted with our own hardware, which you will only find on a Duesenberg. We design it with attention to even the smallest details to create truly unique instruments from tuner buttons to jack plates.

All our fretboards are carefully pleked and finished by hand for optimum playability and the smooth feel they are famous for.
Additionally, our Diamond Deluxe Tremola proved to be one of the best of its kind, providing buttery operation and outstanding tuning stability.

The Starplayer III additionally features a deluxe 5-ply binding and is available in a glossy Black and stunning metallic finishes Catalina Red and Catalina Blue.

We would be happy to make yours.
