Neumann designed the BCM 104 with broadcast professionals in mind, but it has also become a favorite among home, project, and professional studio owners. Engineered to capture the emotion of a vocal performance, the BCM 104 delivers stunning clarity, presence, and authority for broadcasters, podcasters, and music recording engineers alike.

When it comes to upgrading your studio with the unmistakable “Neumann sound,” the BCM 104 is an essential addition to your microphone collection — and at a price that may surprise you.

Capture Any Source in Brilliant Detail

The BCM 104 features a large-diaphragm condenser capsule specifically designed to capture the human voice without coloration or unwanted artifacts. Its fixed cardioid polar pattern provides excellent off-axis rejection, while a linear frequency response with a gentle presence boost around 4kHz and a subtle shelf boost above 10kHz enhances vocal intelligibility.

Outstanding transient response ensures that every nuance of a performance is captured in brilliant detail. With its wide frequency response, the BCM 104 excels not only on vocals but also on acoustic instruments.

Integrated Pop Screen for Clean Recordings

An integrated pop screen prevents plosives that can ruin vocal takes and protects the capsule from moisture and particulate contamination. The quick-release head grille can be removed without tools for easy cleaning, and additional grilles are available for hygienic multi-user environments.

Internal elastic-suspension shock absorption minimizes structure-borne rumble, delivering exceptionally clean recordings.

Low-Noise Circuit with High SPL Handling

The BCM 104 features an ultra-low-noise circuit with a self-noise rating of just 7dBA and can handle sound pressure levels up to 138dB without distortion. Its transformerless balanced output ensures minimal hum and excellent rejection of extraneous signals.

A subsonic filter suppresses frequencies below 20Hz, while a switchable 100Hz high-pass filter compensates for proximity effect. A 14dB attenuation pad allows compatibility with a wide range of preamps. With the pad engaged, the BCM 104 can handle SPLs up to 152dB, making it suitable for everything from delicate vocals to loud instruments.

What Neumann says...

Next Generation Broadcast Microphone

The Neumann BCM 104 is a state-of-the-art broadcast microphone designed specifically for radio, streaming, and podcasting. Engineered to convey emotion with precision, it features an all-new speech-optimized condenser capsule, integrated pop screen, and elastic suspension for superior noise rejection. Now also available in black, the BCM 104 combines professional performance with functional design for everyday broadcast use.

You Speak – The World Listens

The BCM 104 was developed to meet the needs of radio DJs, announcers, newscasters, talk show hosts, and podcasters, ensuring every word reaches listeners with clarity and presence. Its characteristic shape is optimized for standard microphone boom arms, and the elastic mount protects against structure-borne noise. The integrated pop screen prevents plosives and air blasts, while the twist-off headgrille allows for quick cleaning and enhanced hygiene.

Exceptional Audio Performance

The large-diaphragm condenser capsule captures every nuance of the human voice without coloration or unwanted artifacts. The microphone’s transformerless balanced output minimizes hum interference and ensures high common-mode rejection. With extremely low self-noise of only 7 dB-A, the BCM 104 handles sound pressure levels up to 138 dB without distortion. Hidden inside the microphone are switches for a 100 Hz low cut to compensate for proximity effect and a –14 dB pre-attenuation pad for use with lower-sensitivity equipment.

Designed for the Human Voice

The BCM 104 features a fixed cardioid pattern with excellent rearward sound rejection. Its linear frequency response includes a gentle presence boost around 4 kHz and a subtle treble lift above 10 kHz, enhancing speech intelligibility. Outstanding transient response ensures that every nuance of the human voice is captured with stunning detail. The wide frequency response also makes the BCM 104 ideal for sung vocals and a variety of instruments.
