Celebrate Taylor’s half-century birthday with the 50th-anniversary 217e-SB Plus LTD acoustic-electric guitar — a fully decked-out Builder’s Edition spin on the company’s punchy and powerful Grand Pacific platform. This guitar begins with a premium torrefied Sitka spruce top for a dynamic aged-in feel from first strum, while the layered Indian rosewood back and sides supply a wealth of rich low-end drawl and shimmering trebles. Taylor guitars are revered the world over for their effortless performance, and this 6-string Standard Carve ebony-topped mahogany neck more than lives up to that reputation with a fast, comfortable feel. Looking to hit the stage? Taylor’s time-tested ES-2 electronics ensure stunningly lifelike acoustic-electric tones when it comes time to plug in. It’s all finished off with a myriad of top-class 50th-anniversary features, including custom diamond fingerboard inlays and golden tuners.
The 217e-SB Plus LTD’s slope-shoulder Grand Pacific design is inspired by the Laurel Canyon acoustic scene of the '60s and '70s. It's a slight departure from the traditional dreadnought shape with big results that are hard not to love. The Grand Pacific's sloped shoulders offer a smooth top end with balanced bass — a tonal profile that Music Experience’s recording pros and singer-songwriters favor for its ability to perfectly pair with the human voice. An enlarged lower bout completes the package, supplying exceptional resonance and a dynamic flair that’s sure to impart a touch of character to your next gig or studio session.
Taylor’s original C-Class bracing gives this Grand Pacific a wonderfully balanced sound that feels right at home in Taylor’s lineup. Initially developed for the Grand Theater body shape, C-Class bracing is cantilevered and asymmetrical, with an optimized response inspired by Taylor’s acclaimed V-Class bracing. Borrowed V-Class elements let C-Class bracing heighten your soundboard’s response with greater dynamic sensitivity. What’s more, C-Class bracing adds warmth, maturity, and focus to your bass strings by reigning in low-end woody frequencies, making it a natural addition to any Grand Pacific shape.
Need to plug in? Then you’re going to love the 217e-SB Plus LTD’s built-in ES2 electronics! The ES2 system features a revolutionary segmented pickup located behind the bridge saddle; this pickup position delivers remarkably accurate and clear sound production that’s authentic to your playing. Each ES2 system features a handy master volume knob for fast level adjustments, in addition to a 2-band EQ for independent treble/bass adjustments to get the sound you need. Plus, the ES2 system also has a built-in phase switch, which offers essential feedback suppression whenever the system is active.
Making its debut in our 50th Anniversary Collection, this 217e-SB Plus LTD introduces the Grand Pacific body shape to the 200 Series. Layered Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top offer a pleasing blend of projection, warmth and clarity. The torrefied top, decked out with a tobacco sunburst, yields a sweet, played-in character, while our tone-enhancing C-Class bracing adds more volume, sustain and low-end presence. The round-shoulder dreadnought body delivers clear power in the bass range and round, broad notes that overlap for a seasoned tone that's sure to entice fans of vintage acoustic sounds. It makes a great all-purpose instrument, perfect for everything from strumming cowboy chords to flatpicking runs to softer fingerpicking. Limited-edition appointments include diamond fretboard inlays, gold tuners, ebony bridge pins with gold dots and a commemorative interior back label. It ships with ES2 electronics and a sturdy AeroCase.
