The G2622 Streamliner puts a genuine Gretsch semi-hollowbody electric guitar in your hands for less. This guitar doesn’t skimp on quality, however. It delivers an incredibly snappy, open tone, thanks to its 5-ply arched maple body. Broad’Tron pickups balance out the Streamliner’s tone beautifully. A weight-relieved spruce center block imbues the Streamliner with true hollowbody tone while also keeping feedback under control — even in high-gain situations. The Gretsch G2622 Streamliner delivers classic big-body sounds at a reasonable price.
Maple has to be one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their G2622 Streamliner almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. This semi-hollowbody’s 5-ply arched laminated body yields a wonderfully snappy, open tone that, when combined with the balanced character of its Broad’Tron pickups, cuts through a dense mix and sounds great in any situation.
You get a lot of tonal bang for your buck with the Gretsch G2622 Streamliner thanks to its long spruce center block. Running the full length of the body, the center block allows the otherwise hollow body to resist resonant-frequency feedback. At Music Experience, we’ve found that this weight-relieved center block lets us rock out louder, with more gain, without our amplifier squealing out of control. Spruce is a snappy tonewood too, and since the center block connects with the bridge, the note definition, clarity, and sustain on the Streamliner are amazing.
It’s easy to stereotype the Gretsch G2622 Streamliner until you play it, and then you realize you can pull off a lot of tonal tricks with it. With a volume control for each pickup, you can create your perfect balance between warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you’ve got the pickups dialed in. And thanks to the master volume control, you can take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. Of course, you’ll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually, but there’s a lot of territory to cover when you combine them.
Revitalizing the best elements from the past, the G2622 Streamliner™ Center Block Double-Cut with V-Stoptail bursts into the modern music era with powerful sound and style. Brash and feedback-resistant, the sleek G2622 is designed for the guitarist who demands more than the mundane from an instrument—more performance, more style and most importantly, more volume—while retaining all you expect from a Gretsch. The secret to the Streamliner’s sound is twofold—the Broad’Tron™ BT-2S humbucking pickup and the spruce center block. Designed specifically for the Streamliner Collection, the high-output Broad’Tron pickup spawns improved definition with tighter bass response for robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange. A lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the body, reinforcing the top while eliminating undesired feedback for volume-friendly performance on rocking stages. The Streamliner’s sonic power is harnessed and shaped by the traditional control layout—neck and bridge pickup volume controls, a master tone control, master volume control and three-way pickup switching. A fast-playing 12”-radius laurel fingerboard with elegant pearloid Big Block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound neck with a thin “U”-shaped profile—ideal for chord work or fiery riffing. Enjoy rock-solid tuning stability courtesy of the stylish Gretsch V-Stoptail tailpiece, anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and synthetic bone nut. All the classic eye-catching style you’ve come to expect from Gretsch is here—vintage-style black control knobs, enlarged F-holes for increased acoustic projection, elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling, slick-looking nickel hardware, three-ply tortoise pickguard and arched laminated maple construction. Nearly impossible to put down once you pick it up and start playing, the G2622 has the updated sound and classic style that has earned Gretsch accolades since the dawn of rock ‘n’ roll.
