Enough I/O for Any Application
No matter the project, the Neumann MT 48 U is built to handle it. Two mic/line preamps offer ample headroom for gain-hungry microphones, while two line/instrument inputs deliver true reference-quality sound. Four analog outputs support studio monitors and external hardware, complemented by two high-performance headphone outputs.
For expanded connectivity, the MT 48 U supports ADAT, S/PDIF, Dante, and AES67 digital formats. Onboard MIDI I/O is also available via an optional adapter (sold separately).
Flexible Built-In DSP and Intuitive Touchscreen Control
The MT 48 U features powerful built-in DSP, including a fully parametric 4-band EQ, a comprehensive dynamics processor for each channel, and a studio-quality reverb. Four independent monitor mixes with effects can be controlled directly from the intuitive touchscreen.
You can use the DSP strictly for monitoring, print effects during recording, or do both simultaneously using Neumann’s Direct Output Technology. The ability to create an unprocessed backup during tracking ensures that performances are never lost due to processing mistakes, giving you total confidence during recording sessions.

Record With or Without Effects — Or Both
The MT 48 combines an audio interface and digital mixing desk in one unit. DSP processing can be used for monitoring only, recorded directly, or both simultaneously. Thanks to Dual Output Technology, wet and dry signals can be captured at the same time via separate driver channels, ensuring a safe unprocessed backup.
A New User Experience
Despite its extensive feature set, the MT 48 remains remarkably easy to operate. All settings are accessible directly on the unit via the built-in touchscreen, allowing hands-on control of faders, pan pots, and monitor mixes without relying on computer software. The MT 48 can even operate stand-alone as a digital mixing console.
Class-compliant operation is supported on macOS and iPad/iPhoneOS, while Windows systems require the MT 48 Toolkit software. On macOS, Toolkit installation is recommended for expanded functionality.
Monitor Mission for Immersive Audio
The optional Monitor Mission transforms the MT 48 into a powerful, flexible monitor controller for stereo, surround, and immersive audio formats. Precision trim, delay, and advanced EQ functions allow accurate room and speaker calibration, while bass management and downmix options support modern production workflows.
The Monitor Mission is free of charge and automatically activated with MT 48 Toolkit and firmware version 1.9.0 and above.
Dante Ready™ for Networked Audio
In addition to native RAVENNA/AES67 support, the MT 48 is now Dante Ready™, meeting the needs of users in live sound and installation environments. An optional Dante firmware is available free of charge, while Dante channel licenses are purchased separately, ensuring flexibility without unnecessary costs.
