It’s a true Swiss Army knife for contemporary studios, combining classic analogue tone with advanced digital flexibility.

The optional 1073OPX USB/ADAT Card expands its capabilities with premium AD/DA conversion up to 192kHz for all eight preamps, plus a stereo digital monitor return. In USB/ADAT Hub mode, the unit becomes an expandable USB audio interface, supporting up to 16 inputs and 10 outputs over a single USB connection. In ADAT standalone mode, it integrates seamlessly with any ADAT-compatible interface via optical connection, instantly adding eight legendary 1073 preamps and a stereo output to your existing setup.

For networked audio environments, dual Ethernet ports enable connection to Dante audio-over-IP networks with primary and secondary redundancy. For home studios, the class-compliant USB 2.0 connection transforms the 1073OPX into a complete, high-performance studio audio interface.

Every switch setting, gain position, and routing option can be remotely controlled via the 1073OPX app, offering full recall and streamlined workflow integration. Each of the eight microphone preamps is balanced using patented Marinair® transformers, delivering the rich, authoritative tone and musical character that define the Neve sound. Three independent inputs — microphone, line, and instrument — each feature dedicated gain settings and connections, providing versatile recording options for any studio scenario. The instrument DI utilises a unique Class A design with a FET transistor for enhanced musical coloration and high-performance instrument capture.

Advanced features include intelligent +48V phantom power that is automatically routed only to the microphone input, a -25dB PAD for handling high-level sources, a 180-degree phase reverse for multi-microphone setups, and an 80Hz 12dB/octave high-pass filter to eliminate unwanted low-frequency rumble. A selectable impedance switch (1.2kΩ or 300Ω) optimises performance for both modern and vintage microphones.

Front and rear input connections with independent switching allow seamless rack integration while providing convenient front-panel access without re-patching. The analogue and digital monitor paths enable direct connection to studio monitors and front-mounted headphone outputs, with each preamp output routable to the monitor path for latency-free monitoring or analogue summing applications.
