Originally designed in 1974 by Rupert Neve and his engineering team, the 2264 utilized pioneering diode-bridge circuitry to achieve smooth yet precise analogue compression. This distinctive topology produces musical compression curves, with the characteristic ratio engaging at 6dB above the threshold point. This design allows transients to ease over the threshold naturally, minimizing distortion while maintaining clarity and punch. The 2264ALB faithfully preserves the original Class A/B architecture, employing through-hole wiring for critical audio circuitry to maintain authentic tonal integrity.
