If you’re after a more personalized sound, deep editing capabilities allow you to tune, tinker, and tweak every facet of your tone, and you can even upload custom WAV samples via SD card. Looking for top-quality pads? The CY-18DR ride, KD-10 kick, PD-140DS snare, and three PDX-100 toms are time-tested classics found in previous generations of the TD-27KV family and all-time favorites of Music Experience’s eDrum enthusiasts. However, the CY-12C-T, CY-14C-T, and VH-14D crash/hi-hat cymbals have been thinned down and revamped for vastly improved expressive potential! Powerful Prismatic Sound Modeling

Just like Roland’s top-of-the-line TD-50 sound module, the TD-27 is powered by Roland’s cutting-edge Prismatic Sound Modeling. This system’s exceptionally deep editing capabilities allow you to shape and tune just about every facet of your kit, from the shell’s tone and tuning to cymbal size and articulation. Moreover, Prismatic Sound Modeling features virtual mic placement to dial in liveliness and room ambience — there’s even a library of new effects including roomy reverb, compression, and more to effortlessly capture a studio-quality sound!

    PureAcoustic Ambience Technology

Apart from your shells, one other sonic component shapes every element of your kit’s tone: the room. In the past, electronic kits could sometimes have the feeling of playing in a vacuum, which is why Roland developed their innovative PureAcoustic Ambience Technology to create a natural and immersive foundation for your eDrum sound. PureAcoustic imbues every strike of the set with life-like roominess to take your kit’s tone to a whole new level of realism.

    10 all-new kits

Generation Two of the TD-27 amps up the sonic versatility, delivering a vast array of 75 preset kits developed with professional drummers. 10 of these kits are all-new to the TD-27, and many of the legacy kits were fine-tuned and tweaked by Roland, sounding better than ever before! As if that wasn’t enough, improved integration with Roland Cloud makes it a breeze to download fresh new kits from Roland’s ever-expanding library, including many signature artist sets that put the power of the world’s top players directly into your hands.

    Craft a custom kit

In addition to the vast collection of preset drum kits, the TD-27 allows you to import your own WAV sounds via SD card to build your own personal instrument or integrate a specific sample into a preset kit. From lo-fi percussion samples to full-length audio loops, the TD-27’s customization possibilities are truly endless!

    Simplify your recording setup

If you’re building up a home studio, an electronic drum kit is just about the easiest way to lay down your drum tracks — no mics, interface, or excessive noise required! The TD-27 outputs a whopping 28 channels of multitrack audio to your DAW via a single USB cable for near-silent recording of studio-quality beats. Plus, the TD-27 can be rigged up as a USB MIDI interface, allowing you to re-track or trigger parts using virtual instruments in your DAW. Lastly, the stereo mix output and two assignable outputs are a must-have feature for performing musicians who regularly hook up their set to a PA mixer.

    Expand your potential

While the TD-27-KV2 comes with just about everything a drummer could ever want, we more than understand the never-ending need to tinker and build upon your setup. Fortunately, Roland includes three extra auxiliary trigger inputs on the TD-27 sound module to further upgrade your kit!

    Bluetooth MIDI and song streaming

The TD-27’s built-in Bluetooth transceiver is sure to elevate your practice and recording sessions. Music can be streamed directly from your device to the module, allowing you to practice with your favorite grooves and fills.

14-inch digital snare plays like the real deal

The TD-27KV2's snare drum is sophisticated as its sound module. Eight sensors across the 4.3-inch x 14-inch Roland PD-140DS's head and rim accurately translate your performance into the electronic realm. This means fat backbeats, cutting rimshots, delicate ghost notes, brush sweeps, and natural cross-sticks that connect every time. And because of its 14-inch diameter, the Roland PD-140DS transitions seamlessly between your acoustic kit and back. Particular about your tuning? So are we at Music Experience. Fortunately, the PD-140DS's 8-lug design and 3-ply mesh head make it easy to dial in whatever level of tightness or sponginess you desire.

    Top-of-the line VH-14D hi-hat

The crown jewel of the TD-27KV2’s impressive set of pads is the VH-14D, a 14-inch pad that sets the standard for acoustic-like realism. A two-piece design, open/closed resolution, and touch-sensitive multi-sensor system delivers unmatched expression potential, tracking every subtlety of your stick’s strike. Foot splashes sound better than ever, and you can even mute the cymbal with a quick grab — just like a real cymbal! It might not be made out of bronze, but you’d be hard-pressed to tell the VH-14D apart from the real thing.

18-inch digital ride is Roland's most convincing

Electronic cymbals have a reputation for being utilitarian — a means to end. But the Roland CY-18DR invites players to bring their acoustic touch back to their eKit. This 18-inch V-Cymbal sways and plays like a real cymbal. Multiple sensors across the playing surface eliminate the feeling of zones; distinct edge, bow, and bell tones melt into one another seamlessly. And the Roland CY-18DR's multi-touch technology not only lets you choke crash attacks with your hand, but also even soften cymbal attacks with a finger's touch. If you have trouble getting the full emotion of a performance to translate through traditional eCymbals, Music Experience recommends putting the Roland CY-18DR V-Cymbal digital ride through its paces. You won't be disappointed.

V-Kick supports single and double pedals

The Roland TD-27KV2's tower-style bass pad features an adaptive playing surface that responds more like an acoustic drumhead, providing realistic feedback for attack and dynamics. Its redesigned frame greatly reduces physical movement to minimize flexing and scooting. On a rug or carpet, it's rock solid, with spurs to anchor the pad in place. Roland designed the KD-10 to accept single or double pedals, so whatever style of music inspires you, this pad delivers.

    What else is included?

    • PDX-100 toms (x3): Roland’s PDX-100 V-Toms sport a dual-trigger design for a nuanced response that captures your strikes across both the head and rim. Plus, the head can be precisely tensioned to your personal playing style.
    • CY-12C-T and CY-14C-T crash cymbals: This generation of Roland V-Drums features a thinner, more sensitive CY-12C-T and CY-14C-T crash cymbals. In addition to their new low profile, both of these cymbals offer a choke control that functions just like a traditional cymbal — just grab the edge! Both cymbals sport a dual-trigger design, with sensors on both the bow and edge for a wide variety of configuration options

Roland V-Drums TD-27KV2 and VAD 5 Series Overview

If you need a versatile drum kit for recording and rehearsal, the TD-27 V-Drums series delivers. The updated kit features flagship-class sound with natural expression found only in Roland’s unique digital snare, hi-hat, and ride pads. The kit also comes with new thin-profile V-Cymbals that move naturally when played. In this video, dive deeper into the updates and watch Cat Myers put the TD-27 to work.

Premium Playability with Large Pads and Digital Triggering

With the TD-27KV2’s spacious layout and large, comfortable pads, all your standard acoustic drum techniques will translate without compromise. Our famous mesh heads and newly developed thin cymbals offer feel and response that’s both familiar and satisfying. And with Roland’s advanced digital pad technology and the TD-27 module’s high-speed processing, you can draw unlimited color and nuance from the snare, hi-hat, and ride—the most expressive elements in any drum kit.

    14-Inch Digital Snare

The PD-140DS digital snare pad works with the high-speed processing in the TD-27 module to bring the ultimate expression to your snare work. A three-layer mesh head is fitted to a standard 14-inch shell for natural rebound and feel. The multi-element sensor system tracks your playing across the pad, with head, rimshots, and cross-stick techniques all instantly detected in real time—without needing to change settings in the module.

    14-Inch Digital Hi-Hat

With unrivaled touch sensitivity, tonal variation, and open/closed resolution, the VH-14D is simply the best electronic hi-hat available. The 14-inch top/bottom cymbal design mounts on a standard acoustic hi-hat for an authentic look and feel. Playing dynamics, stick techniques, and foot articulations are all captured with perfect detail, thanks to the high-resolution detection system and lightning-fast module processing.

    18-Inch Digital Ride Cymbal

The CY-18DR brings limitless tonal colors to your ride playing. From edge to bell, every articulation is detected with ultra-detailed dynamics and response. Techniques from cymbal rolls to soft bell strokes are fully translated, and you can even mute the bow and bell with a gentle finger touch.

    Thin Crash Cymbals

The TD-27KV2 comes with thin-profile V-Cymbals from the V-Drums Acoustic Design series, offering more natural movement when played. And just like acoustic cymbals, you can grab the edge to choke the sound and draw out different tones depending on whether you play the bow or the edge.

    Authentic Kick Feel—Without the Noise

A nice solid kick drum usually comes with a nice loud noise. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want, but your family or neighbors may not feel the same way. The KD-10 kick pad absorbs much of the noise thanks to its rubber cover combined with a dedicated cushion—but retains that satisfying kick drum “thud” when a beater buries into a bass drum head. And it’s compatible with all standard kick pedals, both single and double.

Maximum Expression with Prismatic Sound Modeling

Backed by Roland’s Prismatic Sound Modeling—the same technology found in the flagship TD-50X—the TD-27 module delivers a rich, responsive drumming experience that inspires you to get lost in the music. Fusing samples recorded in top-flight studios with advanced behavior modeling refined over two decades, these drums sound amazing—and respond like acoustic instruments as you play them. And with a wide range of studio-level processing tools, you can shape sounds to perfection.

    Feel the Sound of Prismatic

Roland’s Prismatic Sound Modeling brings you an electronic drumming experience like no other. We start with carefully curated samples of real drums and percussion, recorded by top players in leading studios. Next, we bring these static samples to life with advanced modeling that recreates the acoustic behavior between each sample for a smooth, true-to-life drumming experiencee

A Warehouse Full of Drum Sounds at Your Disposal

The updated and enhanced TD-27 module features 75 preset kits developed with top professional drummers. Explore 10 all-new kits, plus newly enhanced versions of the three most popular kits from the original version of the TD-27 module. An additional collection of new samples is also available for layering and combining with the preset kits or adding to your own custom setups.

    Seek Your Signature Drum Sound

With acoustic drums, you personalize the sound by swapping heads, adjusting the tuning, applying damping, changing out kick beaters, and more. You can do the same with the TD-27 module and its hands-on controls and intuitive editing tools. The module’s layering features have also been enhanced, making it easier to create fat, hybrid sounds. Edits are saved automatically as you go, so you can always stay focused on playing.

Import Samples to Perfect Your Performance

Some performances need specific sounds. With the TD-27 module, you can import and trigger original single-shot drum hits or introduce audio loops, sequences, and more. Going further, imported samples can be mixed and layered with internal sounds to build any kit you can imagine.

The Easy Way to Rehearse and Record

Offering a wealth of connectivity options, the TD-27KV2 excels for live performance and studio recording. Multiple outputs and headphones monitoring provide enhanced sound control on stage. And with the built-in USB audio/MIDI interface, capturing professional multi-track performances is easy.

Wirelessly Stream Songs and Backing Tracks

Push your drumming further by playing along with your favorite bands—including your own. Wirelessly stream songs and backing tracks through the TD-27 module from your smartphone via Bluetooth audio. You can even record your performances—with or without backing—to hear where you need to tighten things up.

    Multi-Channel Drum Recording—Using a Single Cable

In the studio, the TD-27 module’s USB audio interface makes computer music production simple, with up to 28 audio channels available through a single cable. MIDI is also supported via USB and dedicated I/O ports, allowing you to sync with other MIDI devices and trigger sounds in computer-based software.

Share Your Music Easily with Onboard Recording

With the TD-27 module, you can easily record your drumming at any time—with or without a backing track—without needing a computer or external recorder. It’s a great way to stay in the flow and get your ideas down quickly. You can also listen back and evaluate your playing to decide if you need to put in some more work before the gig. Or maybe export your drum recording to an SD card and share it with bandmates to incorporate your drumming into the next demo.

Split Your Sound Across Multiple Outputs

The TD-27 module features stereo outputs for the overall drum sound, plus two additional direct outputs for independent mixing. So, it’s no problem when you arrive at the gig or studio and the sound engineer wants the kick drum on channel one, snare on channel two, and everything else as a stereo pair. And with the stereo aux input, you can connect a monitor feed and listen along with the kit sound—including a click track—via headphones

    Take Control of Your Drumming

Whether you’re practicing at home, setting up at the gig, or building a kit setup to match your aspirations, the TD-27KV2 has all the tools you need to stay in control.

    Gain of Thrones

On some gigs, you may not have someone to help balance the front-of-house sound. So, as you take your seat on the drum throne, you’re in complete control of the sound that drives the rest of the band. With the TD-27 module’s intuitive user interface, you can quickly adjust the overall volume, individual drum levels, and effects directly from your playing position. Everyone is happy—especially the audience.

Expand Your Kit (and Your Potential)

With the TD-27KV2, you’re not stuck with a static setup. When you’re ready to expand your kit, the module’s three auxiliary trigger inputs make it easy to add additional Roland pads—giving you even more creative firepower.
