Son of ’47

Compared to tube-based microphones, solid-state microphones like the Warm Audio WA-47jr are prized for their detailed sound and resistance to distortion. These are the reasons transformerless FET mics with a U47-style capsule are so popular on kick drums and other percussion instruments, capturing their power and intensity with amazing fidelity. So naturally, the WA-47jr shines on percussion. That said, it’s also a go-to choice for acoustic instruments where capturing fast transients is critical, and it should be on your short list of mics to audition on vocalists, electric guitar cabs, and a whole lot more. Perhaps the more pertinent question is: what isn’t it great on?

Three polar patterns = impressive flexibility

The WA-47jr’s three polar patterns — cardioid, omni, and figure-8 — give you impressive flexibility when it comes to exploring different recording techniques. Cardioid, with its moderate side and near-total rear rejection, is useful for just about any studio task. Omni is great for capturing room ambience along with your source. Use a figure-8 technique to overdub a sax with natural slap or to record two singers on one mic. And with two of these mics, you can implement stereo techniques such as spaced pair (A/B), XY (including Blumlein), ORTF array, and mid-side (M-S).

What can the WA-47jr do for you?

Every studio needs at least one pair of high-quality large-diaphragm condenser mics. You can use the WA-47jr on anything. It’s great on vocals, acoustic guitars, double bass, electric guitar and bass cabs, piano, drums and percussion, strings, brass, woodwinds, and just about any other source. Considering its amazing price, it’s smart to double your value and get two for stereo recording applications.

Quality components make the Warm difference

How does Warm Audio do it? They order parts and build in quantity, which keeps costs down and delivers amazing value, but they do not cut corners. The WA-47jr is built with premium all-discrete components, such as Toshiba FETs, Wima film capacitors, Panasonic electrolytic capacitors, and a custom reproduction of the capsule used in vintage ’47s.

A large part of any microphone’s sound comes from its capsule. The complexity of the k47 capsule used in the WA-47jr requires a meticulous manufacturing process — quality that’s rarely seen in affordable condenser mics. For Warm Audio, premium components and thoughtful design deliver a superior-sounding microphone that doesn’t cost a fortune. Stellar performance, top-tier parts, and exceptional value: that’s the Warm Audio formula, and the WA-47jr delivers it flawlessly.

What Warm Audio Says...

Contemporary Version Of A Classic Sound

The WA-47jr series is a contemporary take on the legendary 47-style studio microphone, delivering rich analog tone enhanced by modern circuitry. WA-47jr and WA-47jr SE microphones are equally at home in project studios and world-class recording facilities. Each model features a vintage-accurate reproduction of the revered K47-style capsule — the same capsule used in the flagship WA-47 tube mic. This capsule carries the same tonal character heard on timeless recordings from artists such as The Beatles, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Adele, and many others.

Delivering a Legacy Of Studio Sound

By combining one of the most celebrated condenser capsules ever made with Warm Audio’s carefully designed modern circuits, the WA-47jr series captures analog warmth with stunning detail. Whether recording vocals, toms, or acoustic guitar, these mics deliver exceptional results. Available with multiple patterns and onboard controls or in a streamlined cardioid-only design, each WA-47jr model offers a discrete signal path, impressive dynamic range, and extremely low self-noise. The result is the perfect blend of vintage tone and modern fidelity.

What You Need To Know

The WA-47jr series is built around the same vintage-accurate K47-style capsule featured in the flagship WA-47 mic. The standard WA-47jr includes additional controls and multiple polar patterns, while the WA-47jr SE provides a simplified cardioid-only design that preserves the core sonic character.

The series uses a true reproduction of the classic K47-style capsule found in the original 47 tube microphone — the same capsule used in the award-winning WA-47. This makes it ideal for adding instant vintage character to any recording.

The WA-47jr model offers three polar patterns — cardioid, omni, and figure-8 — providing flexibility for stereo recording techniques and noise rejection. The SE version features a fixed cardioid pattern for focused, intimate recordings that shine on vocals and lead instruments.

The WA-47jr includes a selectable -10dB pad, allowing it to handle SPLs up to 157dB, making it excellent for high-volume sources.

A switchable 70Hz high-pass filter on the WA-47jr makes it easy to remove unwanted low-frequency rumble before hitting record.
