The Yamaha APX1200II is a thinline acoustic-electric guitar, which means it has a thinner profile that fits up close to your body, so it's easy and comfortable to play. A thinner body doesn't mean the APX1200II isn't thick on great sound.

Genuine Sitka spruce top for great tone

Yamaha chose a solid Sitka spruce top for their APX1200II for both its look and tone. Sitka spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. These qualities have made it the undisputed leader for acoustic guitar tops throughout the industry. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by.

Solid Rosewood back and sides

The APX1200II sports a body made from solid rosewood. This wood is a favorite among flatpickers and fingerpickers at Music Experience for its warm tone with plenty of harmonic content. Its rich sound enhances the lowest fundamental as well as top-end clarity, delivering a punchy tone that is great for getting through a mix. As an electric guitarist in the 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options for you that really worked.
