Designed for immediate access to the most frequently used actions and commands in TotalMix FX, the RME ARC USB is an indispensable wired remote for daily studio workflows. Its extremely flexible configuration within TotalMix FX simplifies operation and significantly enhances the usability of any compatible RME audio interface in real-world recording, mixing, and monitoring situations. As a USB 1.1 (UAC1) MIDI remote, the ARC USB is natively compatible with Windows and macOS, requiring no special setup — once connected, TotalMix FX automatically detects and communicates with it without interfering with other controllers.
Because it communicates directly with TotalMix FX via USB, the ARC USB is compatible with virtually all RME audio interfaces supported by TotalMix FX — including models released as far back as 2001. Any button press or encoder movement instantly triggers the assigned function within TotalMix FX and the connected interface. The ARC USB can also connect directly to newer RME devices featuring an internal USB 1.1 host, making it ideal for standalone operation with interfaces such as the UFX Series, 802 FS, UCX II, and MADIface XT II.
The ARC USB is bus-powered and draws very little current, using the low-demand USB 1.1 standard for stable and reliable operation. This allows it to work flawlessly with long USB cable runs — including standard USB 2.0 cables up to 5–10 meters and even inexpensive extensions. For longer distances, active USB repeater cables are recommended and can easily exceed 20 meters, making the ARC USB suitable for complex studio and control-room setups.
